Chocolate Is Not Better Than Sex…Is A Deliciously Tasty Romantic Comedy.

There are many films out there looking for funds. So which do you choose? We want to make people laugh. We plan on shooting for 22 days. If 100 people gave $10, $1000 would get us a camera rental for a few days, but if 1000 people gave $50, we would be able to list on SAG, get a name actress for the lead and get into production. Once we’re in production, the rest of the funds will come. The universe just naturally responds that way. Please donate to info@chocolateisnotbetterthansex.com via paypal.

Aspen The Series 1

THE SHOW’S CREATOR

“A$PEN the Series™” began as the vision of Aspen local creator and producer, Greg Simmons, through Simmons being a patron of the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen over the eleven years HBO hosted the festival in Aspen. Inspired by shows by people such as Barry Levinson, Robin Williams, American Graffiti, In Living Color, the Smothers Brothers, Steve Martin, and the Comedy Arts Festival theme, “Amendment 1, Freedom of Speech and Comedy,” Simmons thought, “this Comedy Festival has been going on in Aspen for years, and nobody has been doing a comedy about life in Aspen.

ABOUT THE SHOW

We follow an eclectic group of people who have decided to live together in a spectacular mansion on exclusive Red Mountain and do a reality series about – gee, I wonder who? – themselves. Actually, the reality show is a birthday gift for WALTER MONTGOMERY, a very successful investment banker who has decided to take a break from his high pressure job and decompress into “normal life.” Why does Walter want to do this? Besides being a reality buff, he’s in the throes of a midlife crisis and the show will provide a nice diversion. Of course, Walter’s midlife crisis means he’s already gotten all the fun he can out of owning a Maserati and he hasn’t quite evolved to the lets save the planet but keep my private jet phase. Yes. Insular? Definitely. But above all, it‘s very Aspen.

The first few episodes establish the reality show, but the real focus is on our characters, their eccentricities, their foibles, their desires and their attempts to cope with reality or completely avoid it.

STORIES

Walter discovers that Ducky had sex with January before she hooked up with Walter. Because of Ducky’s legendary sexual prowess, Walter feels he can’t measure up and becomes impotent.

Madison tells Lenny that rehab dictates she can’t have sex or any relationship with a man until she can do something simple, like take care of a plant. Without Madison knowling, Lenny desperately tries to nurse the ailing plant.

As part of the reality show, the group hunts in the mines under Aspen for the legendary Silver Queen, the largest silver nugget ever mined. January gets claustrophobic and in trying to calm her down, Walter proposes, then later regrets it.

After losing a part to Paris Hilton, Madison runs to Lenny for comfort, and they finally make love. He’s freaked when she screams “Chad” during sex and is more freaked later when she screams “Jenny.”

Ducky decides to compete with James in the “24 Hours of Aspen” competition, and has been training very hard but still blows it and barfs on the head judge. . Now that Walter and January are engaged, they act the happy couple but are both dying inside, feeling trapped.

Madison has started drinking again. Macy and Lenny try to get her to stop, but with no luck. In the end, Madison gets caught on film in the gondola (an enclosed ski lift) doing it with one of the camera men from the reality show.

Ducky is convinced the spirit of Grandfather Livingston has entered his body. He begins dressing and acting very conservatively. They all have to gather to “exorcise” Ducky’s demon, because his behavior is driving them nuts.

Walter and January decide to take their engagement seriously and begin formulating a prenuptial agreement, However, the do’s and don’ts drive a bigger wedge between them than ever.

Lenny’s novel takes a very morbid turn, reflecting his mood. Macy suggests Lenny can get Madison back by making her jealous. They only succeed in freeing Madison’s guilt, so that she can make a play for James.

The glitz of ENTOURAGE, the fashion of UGLY BETTY, the bizarre entanglements of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, our series has it all and more. Why? Because it’s set in Aspen, playground for the rich and famous where people indulge in all the excesses of life, pause to wonder. Is that all there is and then party on. Our characters may be extreme at times, but deep down they’re just human beings, who like most of us are searching for meaning and balance in their lives. Of course, most of them aren’t searching to pay the rent, because they’ve got a boatloads of money.
