A frustrated Sara talks with Rivka about her hatred for the thieves who hurt Ayoub and stole half their flock. Rivka encourages her to forgive them when Haroon passes through. He looks suspiciously at Sara.
Outside, he tells Rivka not to trust anyone. She tries to talk to him about forgiveness too, but he brushes it aside as religious talk. Rivka goes back and apologizes to Sara but Mariam comes in and interrupts, claiming Moussa has returned because of an accident.
Laila wakes up with Moussa by her side. He’s been blinded by stone chips. Sara, Mariam and Rivka see Moussa, hug him, and ask who’s in the courtyard. He explains that Titus, a Roman soldier, led him home. He tells the girls to prepare a meal and give it to him. Sara asks Moussa to let Rivka care for him, but he says he’d rather die. After awhile, he finally agrees to let Rivka look at him.
Sara removes the bandages as Rivka looks on. They decide his eyes are infected and ask him to rest. When Moussa asks about Dawud, they refuse to tell him while the Roman is there. He asks about Enoc instead. Mariam tells him there’s someone else. Moussa easily guesses Yacoub.
Rivka and Mariam quietly talk in the courtyard. Mariam admits she hates the Romans. Rivka points out that Jesus said to love our enemies. She says forgiveness isn’t a common thing in the world. And that Jesus forgave us, even while He was still on the cross.
Mariam says forgiveness isn’t easy. Rivka nods and says Mariam should pray for the Romans. There’s a knock at the door. Yacoub has come to check on them. Moussa hears him and asks to speak with the young man. After some awkward conversation, Yacoub leaves knowing he can propose to Mariam.
Yacoub and Mariam talk about Dawud before he leaves. Mariam asks that he be told that Moussa is home. But she trusts him not to come back until it’s safe. Yacoub leaves and Rivka announces that dinner is ready. Mariam asks if she can give the soldier food before everyone else.

Do you have enemies or someone you don’t get along with? How can you respond better to them?
“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). God sets the example for us. While we were still His enemies, He did the most loving thing He could do: He sent Jesus to die for us so we could be reconciled with Him. Jesus also prays for and forgives everyone around Him as He hangs on the cross: “Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they’re doing” (Luke 23:34).
There are many people in life we won’t be friends with. Jesus actually promised us that as His followers, we would definitely have enemies. But like God the Father and like Jesus, we should remember to pray for them. We should want them to know God and to be blessed. We should forgive them because we know what real forgiveness is, thanks to God. And like everything else, we can’t do any of that in our own power. We must be filled with the Spirit.
