Moussa accuses Rivka’s husband of telling the Romans where Dawud might be. Rivka says her husband had nothing to do with it. She’s shocked Moussa would speak to her so rudely. Ayoub apologizes. Moussa only gets more upset.
Rivka cries as he leaves. But Noura’s there to see her. She asks what’s happened. Rivka’s so flustered, she drops a stitch in something she’s working on. She tells Noura what Moussa said and that she lost her temper. Moussa blames her for Dawud and the fact that his wife and daughters follow Jesus. Frustrated, she claims she can’t fix it… meaning the stitch. Noura tells her to set it aside.
Noura tells her to forgive him. It’s like the dropped stitch. If it’s not fixed immediately, the hole of bitterness gets bigger and bigger. She urges Rivka not to waste time on anger. She reminds her that Jesus said people would suffer as He suffered for His name. Rivka agrees and asks for forgiveness from God. She asks for blessings on Moussa and forgives him. She decides to speak with Moussa immediately.
Mariam and Yacoub visit Sara and Ayoub to tell them of Dawud. Sara tells Mariam that Laila is much worse. Yacoub tells Ayoub that Dawud has been charged with sedition against Rome. The girls find Laila coughing up blood and hardly able to breathe. Laila tries to talk, but she’s not really able.
Noura and Rivka visit to talk to Moussa. Rivka apologizes. But the girls cry out for help from the family. Laila gasps for breath and stops moving. Rivka checks for breath. But she’s passed away. The family cries around their lost loved one.
How are anger and bitterness like a dropped stitch?

Although Rivka teaches others, we see that she also struggles with sin. No one is perfect. Everyone needs Jesus.
“You are God’s chosen people. You are holy and dearly loved. So put on tender mercy and kindness as if they were your clothes. Don’t be proud. Be gentle and patient. Put up with each other. Forgive the things you are holding against one another. Forgive, just as the Lord forgave you. And over all of those good things put on love. Love holds them all together perfectly as if they were one. Let the peace that Christ gives rule in your hearts. As parts of one body, you were appointed to live in peace. And be thankful” (Colossians 3:12-15).
“Bless those who hurt you. Bless them, and do not call down curses on them. Be joyful with those who are joyful. Be sad with those who are sad. Agree with each other. Don’t be proud. Be willing to be a friend of people who aren’t considered important. Don’t think that you are better than others. Don’t pay back evil with evil. Be careful to do what everyone thinks is right. If possible, live in peace with everyone. Do that as much as you can. My friends, don’t try to get even. Leave room for God to show His anger. It is written, ‘I am the One who judges people. I will pay them back,’ says the Lord” (Romans 12:14-19).
Responding to others as Paul teaches the Colossians and the Romans to respond is a choice. Only in relying on the Spirit can that choice be made. And the choice has to be made despite how others are responding. The other person involved might not apologize. They may continue to persecute you. And they may never actually accept your apology. But their reaction shouldn’t affect our ability to forgive and ask for forgiveness.
