Pothead is a little guy who thinks he is different, but is he? Journey with him in a world that seems so hard to find acceptance in. Pothead may just teach the world some thing about life we never saw before.

For Pothead, he finds his fulfillment in the hands of his illustrator. His creator gives him worth and assures him that he is loved. We are loved. We’re deeply loved.

On a spiritual level, we intuitively know that we’re not perfect and could never meet a standard of perfection.

God knows this too. That’s why Jesus came to earth. God is perfect in every way. The Bible calls this Holiness. And His standard or requirement for us is also perfection. It is our imperfections that separate us from God.

God rescues us from this hopeless situation by providing a solution for our selfish, self-centered imperfections. Jesus takes our place and pays for our imperfections. This is the only solution for God to be perfectly holy, perfectly just, and perfectly loving toward us.

Jesus offers us this solution–and more! He offers you a personal relationship with Him.

To have this personal relationship, we must acknowledge that we are imperfect and that our imperfection separates us from God, who is perfect. There is nothing we can do on our own to reach God. Only God’s son Jesus is able to bridge that gap for us through His death and resurrection.

We must individually accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord in order to know God personally.

Rivka-Ep 12: Sharing The News

Moussa complains about his blindness as Dawud prepares for work. Dawud asks permission to share his story with the family when they come to celebrate the baby’s birth. Moussa begrudgingly agrees.

When they’ve all gathered, Dawud apologizes for the trouble at the wedding. He starts by telling them about his mother’s faith in Jesus. Laila had shared her faith with Dawud. But he thought she had been led away from their religion. When he was in prison, he knew many people prayed for him.

He says that when he was in prison, a man appeared to him. The man’s eyes glowed like fire. Everything Dawud had ever done was presented by the man. Dawud wept and worshipped Jesus while the other prisoners slept. He says he’s learned that when man and woman were created, they had a relationship with God. But when they disobeyed, that relationship was broken. So God provided Jesus to die for their sins.

The family grumbles and asks about the prophets and the Scriptures. Ayoub answers that Jesus fulfilled everything the prophets said. Dawud declares that Jesus has saved his life. The family asks why they should believe. Dawud says Jesus was raised from the dead. Rivka’s asked to speak about Mary Magdalene’s experience with the risen Jesus. She tells how Mary saw the empty tomb and spoke with Jesus.

Dawud says that if they believe in the Lord Jesus and are baptized in His name, they can be saved from their sin and shame. Moussa says they’ve said enough.

Outside, Daliyah says she’s been thinking about Jesus and Dawud’s story. She doesn’t understand but she wants to believe. She’s afraid. She’s never actually seen Jesus. Mariam encourages her to ask God what’s true. They pray together.

Rivka and Mariam watch the sunset together. They marvel over everything that’s happened. Mariam declares she knows that God is with them.

What has Dawud learned since his encounter in prison?

Dawud shares his story, along with other things he’s learned since then, with others in the family. When we follow Jesus, we receive the power of the Spirit and the call to share the gospel with others.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. Then you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem. You will be My witnesses in all Judea and Samaria. And you will be My witnesses from one end of the earth to the other” (Acts 1:8).

“So you must go and makes disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And you can be sure that I am always with you, to the very end” (Matthew 28:19-20).

Instead of relying on one person’s opinion, we need to point people back to Jesus and the truth of Scripture. Ayoub uses Scripture when he answers the family doubts about Jesus. “But the servant was pierced because we had sinned. He was crushed because we had done what was evil. He was punished to make us whole again. His wounds have healed us” (Isaiah 53:5).

Rivka-Ep 11: Births

Ayoub and Moussa wait outside as Sara has her baby. Just as she’s born, Yacoub arrives. The men congratulate each other and rush inside when Noura invites them to. Sara sits with a beautiful girl in her arms.

Rivka, Noura and Mariam are close by. Ayoub holds the baby girl. He asks for Moussa to bless the child. Moussa gladly holds the girl and tells her that the world is hard. He prays that God help her face what life brings, with health, happiness, and a long life. Sara and Ayoub decide to name her Laila.

As they celebrate, there’s a knock at the door. It’s Dawud. Mariam runs out and hugs him tightly. He tells her gladly that he’s been freed. He and Moussa hug and make their way inside. They all sit and listen to Dawud’s story.

When he was arrested, he tried to stay silent during interrogations. But finally, he gave them information. He knew they would kill him now that he had nothing more to offer. One night, Jesus came to him in a dream. He had flowing robes, eyes like fire, and feet like glowing bronze. Dawud fell to his knees in fear and then worship.

Mariam rushes to get Daliyah so she can listen to Dawud’s story.

Dawud tells the other prisoners that he had seen the Lord. When the soldiers came for him, he wasn’t taken to his death. Instead, he was released. His fine had been paid by Rivka’s husband.

Moussa insists Dawud stop. He pleads with him not to fall into another crazy group that might cost him his life. But Dawud and the whole family tell Moussa what it’s like to know Jesus. As followers, their lives are in Jesus’s hands.

Mariam takes Moussa to the courtyard. Daliyah pulls her aside and says she’s going home. She can’t handle all that she’s heard.

When Dawud shares his story, Moussa gets irritated. He still doesn’t believe what the others believe. He thinks Dawud is choosing to go from one dangerous extremist group to another. But Dawud insists that the sacrifice of Jesus was extreme. And that he very much wants to respond accordingly.

“…If anyone wants to follow Me, he must say no to himself. He must pick up his cross and follow Me. If he wants to save his life, he will lose it. But if he loses his life for Me, he will find it.What good is it if someone gains the whole world but loses his soul? Or what can anyone trade for his soul?” (Matthew 16:24-26).

Dawud enthusiastically shares with his family and wants to continue sharing his story with others. He desperately wants them to know Jesus. When we share our story with others, we should be prayerful, fearless and clear. “Spend a lot of time in prayer. Always be watchful and thankful. Pray for us too. Pray that God will open a door for our message. Then we can preach the mystery of Christ. Because I preached it, I am being held by chains. Pray that I will preach it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders. Make the most of every opportunity. Let the words you speak always be full of grace. Season them with salt. Then you will know how to answer everyone” (Colossians 4:2-6).
